Know Before You Go: Important Information for PGCPS Athletic Event Spectators

As the 2023-24 School Year and fall athletics season gets underway, we want to share an update regarding the division’s clear bag policy for those attending Prince George County Public Schools sporting events.

On Thursday, August 31, 2023, the Prince George School Board revisited their clear bag policy and approved the following changes:

  • The clear bag policy remains REQUIRED for all Prince George High School home football games for the remainder of the 2023 Fall Season. 
  • For all other sporting events, attendees are RECOMMENDED to follow the clear bag policy outlined on this page. 

The Prince George School Board will review the policy at the end of the football season to determine if any adjustments need to be made. 

Appropriate bag guidelines are provided below:

  • Bags must be clear and no larger than 12x6x12, a small clutch purse, or a gallon Ziploc bag. Items related to medical needs will be permitted.

All other spectator expectations remain active and unchanged, and are as follows: 

  • All children in grades PK - 8th Grade must be accompanied by an adult while attending PGCPS sporting events.
  • All spectators must have a valid ticket for entry.
  • Reentry is not permitted.
  • Tickets will be sold online through GoFan and at the event venue.
  • Handheld wanding by metal detectors will be used at football and large basketball events.

In addition to the policies listed above, the following items remain prohibited at all PGCPS sporting events:

  • No pets
  • No smoking, drugs, alcohol, or weapons
  • No bicycles, skateboards, or roller skates
  • No coolers
  • No bullhorns or other electronically enhanced noisemakers

All students must abide by the Prince George County Public Schools Code of Conduct. 

These changes are part of our continuous efforts to ensure our students and community have a safe experience while enjoying sports at our athletic facilities.
