District Retirees Receive Heartfelt Send-Off During PGCPS' Annual Royal Recognitions Reception

As the sun sets on the 2024-25 School Year, the opportunity to celebrate our soon-to-be retirees as they prepare to embark on the next journey in their lives returned once again during the district's fourth annual Royal Recognitions Reception, held at Prince George High School on May 15, 2025.

During the hour-long event, the event, emceed by Division Superintendent Dr. Wayne Lyle, featured recognitions of the district's teachers and support employees of the year, the awarding of PGCPS' two year-end awards, the Pathfinder Award and the Spirit of Prince George Award, along with thoughtful celebrations of the division's retiring faculty and staff for their countless years of service.

This year's nearly two dozen retirees combine for over 500 years of service to our division, supporting our students and district operations. The remarks delivered by administrators and building leaders drew laughs, hugs, and a few tears of happiness as they recounted each retiree's impact on them and their campuses.

Members of the Prince George County School Board - Chairman Robert E.L. Eley, III, Vice Chair Michelle Crist, and District 2 Member Jill A. Andrews  - provided each retiree with bags, including a variety of PGCPS gifts.
