Celebrate Our Heroes: PGHS Varsity Football's Military Appreciation Night on Oct. 24 to Feature U.S. Army's Legendary 'Golden Knights' Parachute Team

Join Prince George High School Royals Varsity Football on Friday, October 24, 2025, as they take on Matoaca High School and celebrate America's Armed Forces during their annual Military Appreciation Night, featuring the world-renowned United States Army Golden Knights Parachute Team.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. at Prince George High School's athletic stadium.  Royals fans are encouraged to arrive early to watch the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute down to field level* just after 6:30 p.m. in the lead-up to kickoff in the Royals' Friday night lights matchup at 7 p.m! (Note: Gates will close at 6:35 p.m. and reopen at 6:45 p.m. once the jump has concluded.)

Who are the U.S. Army Golden Knights?
The United States Army Parachute Team, known as the Golden Knights, is a combination of expert teams and soldiers brought together by their love of skydiving. The team comprises parachute teams, aircraft pilots, and those who handle jump logistics behind the scenes. The Golden Knights' Demonstration Team has performed in front of audiences at some of the largest festivals, airshows, and sporting events around America. Consisting of nearly 30 soldiers, the team showcases the benefits of Army service with the broader community through the sport of skydiving.

  • Fun Fact: As of 2023, the United States Army Golden Knights have conducted more than 16,000 shows in 50 states and 48 countries, reaching an average of 60,000 people per show.

Traffic Advisory
As part of the United States Army Parachute Team's landing at Prince George High School's athletic stadium on Friday, October 24, 2025, road closures will occur to ensure the safety of the team and onlookers during the team's jump and arrival at the stadium. 

Those planning to attend the game are encouraged to arrive early, with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. The following roads will close at the following times:

  • Prince George Drive (Route 156) will close between Prince George Christian Church (7605 Prince George Drive) and Laurel Spring Road from approximately 6:35 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
  • Laurel Spring Road will close between Prince George High School (7801 Laurel Spring Road) and Prince George Drive (Route 156) from approximately 6:35 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.

Any closures related to the United States Army Golden Knights' jump will depend on weather conditions. Additionally, these closure times are approximate and may fluctuate slightly depending on the jump. Drivers are encouraged to be mindful of traffic directions from local police and potential pedestrians or spectators in the area.
