How to Get Involved

Being part of the J.E.J. Moore Middle School Parent-Teacher Organization is a great way to get to know the school, meet other parents, teachers, and staff, and enrich your student’s school experience.

We're thankful for our volunteers who join us each year, and if you're interested in joining, please contact the J.E.J. Moore Middle School PTO via email at jejmoorePTO@pgs.k12.va.us.

The PTO membership fee is $5.00 per family.  All monies remain with the J.E.J. Moore PTO and are used for our activities.  Checks should be made out to “Moore PTO”.  (There is a $15 fee for returned checks.)

New volunteers are encouraged to review our notes and guidelines regarding safety and participation.

Volunteer Notes & Guidelines

  • All volunteers will have their photo ID scanned and screened the first time they are in the building during a school day.
  • Grandparents are welcome to volunteer as well as parents or guardians.
  • Food contributions for an activity can often be dropped off at the beginning of the day or even ahead of time, depending on the item.
  • Volunteers do not have to be PTO members.
  • When volunteering at school, please adhere to school dress code policy found in the student handbook.
  • The school building and grounds are no smoking environments.
  • Volunteers should use adult (not student) bathrooms. They are located in the main office and the teacher workrooms on each hall.

Wall of Honor Nominations

Due to our proximity to Fr. Lee military base, some of our students, faculty, and staff have family members who are on active duty. If you have a family member who is on active duty, we would like to recognize and honor them with a star on the “Wall of Honor” at J.E.J. Moore Middle School.  This is an area that is set aside in the school to post the names of active duty service members.  please contact the J.E.J. Moore Middle School PTO via email at jejmoorePTO@pgs.k12.va.us, or just write the information down on a piece of paper and turn it in to the school office or your student’s homeroom teacher.  Names will be posted as they are received, and they will start going up in the late fall.
